News From The Chair - August 2007
All,
Finally the news you've all been waiting for- training starts this Wednesday at 7.30pm down at the club.
The season starts a week earlier this year, 22nd
September, and so we plan to have friendlies for both
sides on the 8th and 15th, and one friendly on the 1st
September with a team made up of players from both
sides.
It would be helpful if people could signal their
availability for those games as soon as possible
please. Indeed, we are looking to have a new process
for acertaining availability this season. Firstly,
could people please let us know (by emailing oldwhits@gmail.com ) as and when they know that they
will be unavailable for a given Saturday- Richard
Sturdy has very helpfully agreed to keep a spreadsheet
with people's availabilities over the whole season.
On a week to week basis, the process will work as
follows- on a Saturday after the game, players will be
asked if they are available for the following
Saturday. This will enable us to email out squad lists
on the Monday for the coming Saturday. It will be the
responsibility of any player selected to then let us
know if he somehow becomes unavailable, again by
emailing oldwhits@gmail.com , rather than us spending
all week chasing people. Final squads will then be
sent out on Thursday morning, to allow for any
injuries picked up in training etc.
I am also really pleased to announce that David Nix,
aka Nixie, has joined the club from (friendly) rivals
Old Sedcopians and brings with him his knowledge and
experience gained from years involved at various
levels of club development. Nixie will manage the Reserve
team next season and already has a number of ideas to
make it a successful and memorable season both on and
off the field.
Nixie has already been instrumental in helping us to
set up this website,
It is still in its very early stages, but we
plan a quite rapid development of its content. The
site will be updated regularly and will include all
the latest events, match reports and training news. We
will also include league tables, results grids and
team statistics. You will be able to find out more
about the Club and what we are about, by visiting the
History section of this website. There will also be a
section detailing subscriptions and how to pay etc.
The season promises to be an exciting one for both
sides in what will be the club's 10th anniversary.
Let's try and get things off to a good start by having
as many of you as possible down at the club on
Wednesday
See you then
Joe
